There are lots of very friendly chocolatiers in London, who make great chocolate trufles. A few of them put that extra bit of care and attention in, and only make chocolates made by hand . Others go the extra mile and don't put any preservatives in.
Unless you've tasted fresh, handmade chocolate truffles , you won't believe the difference. chocolates made by hand mean they've had that extra bit of care and attention put in. They are not produced buy a machine that is the size of your house, but slowly made by a trained oompa loompa's hands, caring about each and every chocolate truffle that is made.
Chocolate truffles are extremely temperamental and no amounts of buttons, lights etc. can tell a superb chocolate better than a trained chocolatier.
The other very important part about real chocolate is learning what exactly is inside the chocolate. Buy a chocolate truffle from any newsagents (or even from some 'chocolatiers' on the high street) and you'll find ingredients such as E-numbers, or flavourings,. Trust me, real chocolate truffles does not contain vegetable oil.
Why do chocolate truffles have vegetable oil in?
Because some firms don't care about taste, and only care about costs. They want to sell to you the cheapest chocolates they can at the highest price they can.
Vegetable oil is used instead of cocoa butter - which is naturally found in real chocolate. The very very very big very very very rich will have calculated that they can strip cocoa butter out of chocolate, and sell that for use in cosmetics at 4 or 5 times the price of the replacement they put back in the chocolate. So removing cocoa butter and replacing with vegetable oil is just a way to get more profit for these big companies. Do chocolate truffles taste better with vegetable oil in? (I'll let you decide) if you aren't sure, then mix a teaspoon of vegetable oil into a plate of cocoa Taste nice? I don't think so.
Why do fresh, handmade chocolate truffles taste amazing?
Fresh, handmade chocolates taste better because there is less inside them, and less is better. For a similar comparison, try a victoia sponge, freshly baked by your nan that came out of the kitchen a few hours ago, and compare that with a cake you purchased from a shop - like the ones that come out of a box, with horrible packaging inside, and a ingredients list bigger than a python. I've never ever found a food which is better with stacks of preservatives in, and I doubt you will - nothing will beat home-made fresh food, and I encourage you to find the best of any food you find - if it's bread, cakes, doughnuts or handmade chocolates.
